Ourika Valley: in the heart of the Berber Mountains

A Full day out with your own vehicle and driver, or in a shared trip.

Departing at 10am from your Riad. First visiting a local Berber market for as long or short a time as you wish, this is not a tourist market. It is where the locals shop, have there teeth dealt with, visit the Barbers and buy local produce.

From there you drive onto and through Ourika Valley which is very much « Indiana Jones » territory with dramatic views of the mountains. Stopping at the last Village in this valley called Setti Fatma. Here you can take some lunch (at your expense) before taking a guide  for a walk up to the water falls which are in several different stages. You may also see the wild monkeys and breathtaking mountain scenery.
On the way down the guide will take you around the village. Back to the driver for the return journey to Marrakech, en route visiting a local Berber House. Many are still made from baked mud bricks. Life is harsh for these mountain people and you will see a vast difference from City life to Country life.
Returning back to Marrakech between 5/6 pm. If you do not wish to do the waterfall climb then the driver may offer to take you to see the Ski resort of Ouikhamden.
